Analysis help needed to check PSU potential fault - Reports via HWinfo and Aida64

Hello All,

I would like to ask to help with checking reports I prepared. I only begun to use HWinfo and I am trying to see why my computer gets total shutdown most likely under heavy load.
One report I prepared was with Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Most of the time I also was getting a system shutdown but not under this test session.
Next I ran Ryse Sons of Rome and sure did, my computer got total shutdown and restart itself after very short period of time. My PSU is Corsair VS650 650W, 120mm FAN, EU version (CP-9020098-EU). Rest of the config you can find in attached Aida64 report.

I already tried some steps but no success. What I am suspecting is the PSU fault. But before I jump into bying a new one like 850W unit or so I would like to ask for help checking.

Some observations after time: Build was including this PSU and Gigabyte GTX 960 4GB 3 Fans. For a year it was fine. Sometime after that I started to notice in only some games that my computer starts to shutdown itself. I was thinking that 650 unit was fine and Corsair was not some shady company like I known in my childhood age. Now I upgraded to Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB 3 Fans with the same PSU. Again no shutdowns in idle and internet (or similar activities), some games are also fine (like GTA5, Dark Souls 3, Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain). Only with games with heavy load on system are causing restart (Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Witcher 3, Ryse Sons of Rome).

Note that I have some GPU overclock and CPU (not sure if I reset MB to default for CPU and RAM). But definitely, I did ran GPU on stock and was getting some very similar results. Please find a screen from Gigabyte Extreme.

I know and I suspect that this might be in fact PSU fail. I want to ask for some advice before going with what symptoms are telling me.

Some screenshots also attached.
GPU W, seems fine and not to high. Around 170W max.
CPU W, also fine 58W max.
GPU Temperature and CPU are definitely not an issue here. GPU 65C and CPU 54C so the system runs cool.
I noticed some interesting dips in +12 Voltage rail. Could they be one of the factors that causes some instability?

I would really appreciate your help here. Please feel free to ask me for any additional details needed.

Kind regards,
Azathi

Auto Start Worked Now Won't

I installed HWinfo64 last week and the auto start feature worked without issues.
The other day I got a message about an update which I installed, auto start then ceased to work.
After that every time HWinfo opened I got the same update available message!
It started to drive me nuts so I uninstalled and re-installed.
This got rid of the crazy update messages but now no matter what I do auto start refuses to work.
It doesn't matter whether UAC is enabled or disabled. I've looked at these forums and if I understand things correctly there should be an entry to start HWinfo in Task Scheduler and there isn't.
I've now uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, each time with a fresh download from the website. Nothing I do works. I've tried both 32 and 64 bit versions
Auto start is ticked. I can manually start and minimise to the notification tray but as soon as I restart I have to manually start it again.
I've checked in Task Manager and HWinfo doesn't show unless I start it manually.
I'm using Windows 7 64bit.

I'd like a launch option such as "HWiNFO64.exe -sensorsonly" so I can save myself a couple of clicks. Does that already exist or no?

First Post: Fan Control

Hello... First post...
Dell XPS 17" 702x laptop.  W7-64.  Running latest 64 bit HWInfo. I have a few questions after a few hours of experimenting....
I've got HWinfo set to start on login, but it's not starting minimized, but maximized.
My intent is to start with the fan speed at 2800 as a minimum, and if it needs more RPM the Sensor in the Dell would raise it...  However, after a few evenings of examination, the best I've got is to have HWInfo start maximized, and I have to manually set fan after startup, and I'm not certain if it recognizes the Dell sensor afterwards.....

So my questions are:
1. Once I get HWInfo it to start maximized, where is the setting to change it start minimized? I can't fiind it...
2. How an I get HWInfo 64 to automatically start the Dell Fan at 2800 RPM as a starting and minimum value, such that Dell fan control goes from 2800 RPM to 4800 RPM under control of Dell Sensor in steps, but never goes below 2800 RPM?

Thanks for your direction...
Jan

2nd Post-- THANK YOU!

So after getting fan over-ride to work, (Dell XPS 1702x) I encountered an issue where videos and audio would halt and buzz at intermittent times...
It was easy enough to determine if HWInfo was halted, problem went away..... but I wanted the benefits of fan control... that HWInfo gave...
Instead of hollering for help, I started reading the Known Issues and other help files...  By taking the time to read those help files and then taking the time to learning where the items to disable were located in program (Layout), I eventually determined how to get videos to play smoothly with no random audio buzzes.....
In my case (Dell XPS 17 702x) the specific sensor was located in:
[DELL EC: DELL Dell System XPS L702X]  BOTTOM CPU sensor under that... Changed both to NO from YES monitoring...
EDIT Bottom Listed CPU only.... However, This does seem to kill the fan display in Systray... And until I can find a way to keep both going, I won't know that fan control is solid...

THANK YOU For those help files!!!! YES!! I read them!! Smile!

Set a timer in Fan window, locks up

In fan settings there is a timer setting in lower left corner of that window...
I played with it...  Inadvertently put in 9 which causes error... But it effectively locks up system because there isn't a way of putting in number above 100 before error window pops up again..... I halted application and un-installed it, and re-installed latest non-beta version...   Same thing happened on new install...
Un-installed it again, and went looking for a directory I expected to find settings in to delete for the next attempted install...
I never found any data remaining... but if I install it again, it immediately remembers the 9 in the timer settings....
????

I'm wondering if it's possible to get a greater description what ReSpin period does when checked in fan settings....

Also... Is there a Manual I can download and read?

CPU usage not correctly reported with HyperV

Windows 10. HWinfo works fine otherwise. No crashes or anything.

But it seems it's only reporting CPU usage of the main OS itself.  Comparing to device manager I can see something like 60% CPU usage when one of the hyperv clients is doing something. But hwinfo is only reporting like 4-5% usage

CPU Package min = 0°C.... ?

Hi,

I made a RealBench session on my computer.

See screenshot :

As you can see in HWInfo (Circled in red), CPU Package min = 0°C, which is of course not possible (Ambient = 22°C).

The CPU Package minimum value changed from something like 30°C or 31°C (I don't remember) to "0°C" during the test.

QUESTION : Does it mean the overclock is unstable and then HWInfo reports a bad value for "CPU Package min" or is it a HWInfo bug which can occur sometimes (Not linked to overclock stability or unstability) ?

I made several Realbench and Aida64 test sessions recently and this "0°C" never occured, even with same overclock settings.

Thank you for help.

Hello! First of all I want to thank the author for this very useful tool. I have to maintain an internet cafe which includes 50 machines. In implementing HWInfo faced with the problem of restrictions connections in 30 computers. What is the bound and whether it would slightly increase the number of simultaneously connected machines? We thank! Yuri

Sensor - voltage readings

I have a query re the voltages within a laptop. Now I use the program quite a bit for searching for component details and the Sensor settings for finding the voltages on desktop machines that I have queries about and find the readout very useful.
However when it comes to voltages within a laptop HW can only give me the battery status which is quite restricting when dealing with power issues in laptops.
So is there a way of using HW for that very purpose or am I missing something??
